HEDGE LAYING

Hedge Laying is a traditional method of hedgerow management dating back many hundreds of years. Originally used to livestock-proof hedges, it supports wildlife by providing habitats for many species.

Although created as a practical solution for farmers, laid hedges are a stunning addition to estates of all sizes – from a thousand acres to a modest garden.

Every hedge is different, so intervention requirements will vary – please contact us for further information and quotations.

Grants are often available to carry out this type of work and we can advise on this as part of our Rural Management service.

COPPICING

Coppicing is a traditional method of woodland management enabling timber to be harvested sustainably while supporting wildlife and biodiversity. This method of management provides an ethically sound source of firewood, with all waste wood material used to create charcoal and biochar – leaving no part of the tree wasted.
